Even before typical pre-teen dreams of driving a car or going to the school prom entered his mind, Scott was busy putting plans in place for what he call a dream job—helping kids and people develop self-esteem, focus and discipline through sports, martial arts and professional training. Scott said “I was getting so much out of sports and exercise that I realized how important it was for all kids to succeed. I always wanted to do something good for myself and others so I focused my time on that”.
Scott began practicing martial arts in his childhood and received his formal training at Lees Martial Arts in San Jose, California after graduating high school in 1993. He trained under Master Instructor Lee Thompson originally, then eventually under Master Instructor Jerry Maloney who is the current owner of Lees Martial Arts. Scott received his 1st Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate in 2004.
In 2000, he began competing in local open style tournaments throughout the bay area with great success and received many awards for competition from 2000-2008 including competitor of the year for fighting from 2002-2005. He was successful in many tournaments including the USA Karate Federation (silver medal), Long Beach Internationals (1st place), Las Vegas Internationals (1st place), San Francisco Internationals (1st place) and the National Black Belt League Sport Karate World Games (2nd place). After earning national rankings in the National Black Belt League (NBL), Scott placed 3rd in the Sport Karate World Games for the Black Belt Heavy Weight Continuous Fighting division in both 2004 & 2005. In 2006, he won 2nd place competing in the finals for the NBL World Title.
His education was structured around his childhood vision, having attended West Valley College in Saratoga, where he received education in business, exercise science and performing arts. At 18 Scott became a certified professional trainer and later received many other certifications in sports training, nutrition, martial arts conditioning, business management, functional strength training and wellness.
Scott has been a martial artist and professional trainer for the past 20 years and is focused on helping others develop their mind and body through community based sports, fitness and wellness programs.
